Based in Red Hook, Brooklyn, the Bamboo Bike Studio promotes sustainability and personal craftsmanship by providing any cyclist the experience of building a dream bike from scratch.
Bamboo Bike Studio also works to advance sustainable entrepreneurship and development through financing bamboo bike factories in Africa and South America with partnerships with The Earth Institute at Columbia University and Millennium Cities Initiative.
The Cooper Hewitt Museum's "Drop-In Design" program is featuring the Bamboo Bicycle Project on December 5, where bicycle and DIY enthusiasts can meet the founders of Bamboo Bike Studio, hear about how their business model works, and see a bamboo bicycle frame take shape over the course of the afternoon.
Free with admission, no registration required. The Cooper Hewitt Museum is located at 2 East 91st Street in New York.
